The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, vide a Gazette notification published on 29th March, 2017 has revised the method of calculation of thresholds for filing notices for combination under section 5 of the Competition Act,2002. Further, the Notification has extended the “target” exemptions to cover mergers and amalgamations, in addition to acquisitions, for a further period of 5 years, with effect from 29th March, 2017.
