Mr. Hemant Puthran is a senior member of the Corporate practice of the Firm in Mumbai and has been associated with the Firm since 1999. He is also a qualified Company Secretary. He specializes in advising corporate clients on acquisitions and dispositions of business and business assets, joint ventures, technology transfer, inbound and outbound investments. He advises in respect of structuring of the transaction, leading the due diligence, drafting various contractual agreements and documents, negotiating the deals and providing overall transactional support including regulatory approvals, etc. from Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and the Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
In addition, he provides continuing legal advice to a number of the Firm’s domestic and international clients, ranging from start-up ventures to publicly held corporations, in the areas of commercial contracts, employment law, setting up of subsidiaries / branches / liaison office, obtaining various statutory registrations, corporate governance and compliance matters.
Mr. Puthran has been independently endorsed as a Leading Lawyer in Corporate/ M&A by Asia law Leading Lawyers-2018. He has contributed the Indian legal perspective to the Handbook on International Employee Equity Plans: Participation Beyond Borders, published by Kluwer Law International in cooperation with the member firms of the World Law Group and the Firm publication- India Business Guide-Start-up to Set-up published by Commercial Law Publishers (India) Private Limited. He also co-authored the chapter on ‘Establishing a business in India’-Multi-jurisdictional guide published by Thomson Reuters.
